The
Ancient and Honorable Bibliophilic Society convenes each month in
a secret location to discuss the ills of the world and feats of literary
greatness. Shrouded in mystery, these five brave men trade bits of
their souls for the price of a few pints...
Following in the ancient footsteps of secret orders, these knights-of-the-bar-table
have sworn solemn oaths to uphold the tasks before them: to read
and discuss books.
The
Ancient and Honorable Bibliophilic Society began January 7, 1997,
when the four founding members established the charter and bylaws
(see society
rules). In March of that year, a fifth member was inducted,
and The Society membership was sealed forever.
The Ancient and Honorable Bibliophilic Society reads fiction and
nonfiction: mystery and memoir, biography and sci-fi, historical
fiction and fictionalized history alike. There are a lot of disaster
stories on the list.
In
addition to regular meetings, The Ancient and Honorable Bibliophilic
Society has added a third dimension to several of its book embarkations
such as interviewing Nan L. Glass, one of the survivors from
The Circus Fire, exploring the site where The Eastland
sank, and being joined by author Harry Mark Petrakis for the review
of his book, The Odyssey of Kostas Volakis. (see
the third dimension)
